Heavenly Father,

Many of us are overcommitted, overwhelmed, overworked and overwrought. Therefore, we seek You and pray for the gift of rest and renewal this Labor Day Weekend. We ask this not only for ourselves but for our adult children and their families.

Please give us relief from demanding deadlines, grueling work-hours and calendars run amok. Please give us respite from worries, doubts and fears. Let us “cast our burdens on the Lord” (Psalm 55:22) and enjoy a three-day weekend filled with wonder, laughter and promise.

In Jesus’ Name, we pray.

Amen.
