Heavenly Father,

We approach your throne of grace on bended knees, our hearts troubled for our grandchildren as they prepare for Halloween. Please protect them from mischievous, shady and cruel characters who delight in playing tricks on unsuspecting children.

We pray also that you keep our grandchildren from becoming enamored by the supernatural, lest they open the door to Satan’s influence. Give them strength to avoid the occult, witchcraft and the macabre symbols of death assigned to Halloween.

Please dress our precious grandchildren in “the whole armor of God, that they may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil” (Ephesians 6:10). Let them wear the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the readiness for the Gospel of peace and the helmet of salvation. And let them carry your shield of faith and sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. (Ephesians 6:10-18, paraphrased).

We ask you to protect our grandchildren and guard their hearts, not only on October 31st but every day of the year.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
