Lord Jesus,

We humble ourselves, asking Your forgiveness for the demands and errors we make when parenting our adult children and their spouses. Remind us, as often as necessary, that it isn’t our role to judge their hearts or minds; it isn’t our role to fix them; and it isn’t their role to make us happy.

Help us to love them sacrificially, as You love us. Help us to be patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Help us to give up our selfish desires, so we don’t demand our own way, hold grudges or notice when we are treated wrongly.

Let us be loyal, no matter what the cost, believing in them, expecting the best of them and standing our ground in defending them. And like You, let us rejoice whenever Truth wins out. (I Corinthians 13:4-7, The Living Bible, paraphrased).

In Your Name, we pray.

Amen.

Good morning, Bonnie. Thank you for taking the time to comment. More importantly, thank you for your honesty. Your transparency encourages all of us, who have the problem of wanting to change our grown children and their families, to take a honest look at ourselves, to repent and to start fresh each new day. I hope you have a blessed day!
